Empowering Future Scientists: High School Summer Volunteering PROGRAM
Summer volunteers 2024
We believe in the power of education and hands-on experience to shape the next generation of scientific leaders. This July, we had the privilege of hosting high school students from various parts of the country as part of our volunteer program. These bright young minds had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of biomedical research, learning various laboratory techniques and contributing to ongoing learning experiences.
The students' journey with us was not just about gaining technical skills; it was also about developing essential soft skills. Each week, the students were tasked with presenting their learning progress, giving them valuable experience in communicating in a professional setting. This exercise not only honed their presentation skills but also boosted their confidence and prepared them for future academic and professional challenges.
We had a fantastic time learning from these young volunteers and were continually impressed by their enthusiasm, curiosity, and dedication. It was a mutually enriching experience, and we are excited to see where their future endeavors and career goals will take them.
Our Lab's mission is centered around empowerment, innovation, societal impact, excellence, and leadership. We strive to cultivate a dynamic learning environment that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration. By engaging students and trainees in rigorous academic inquiry and cutting-edge research, we aim to equip them with the tools necessary to tackle the most pressing social challenges of our time. Our goal is to nurture a new generation of leaders committed to advancing knowledge and making a positive impact on society.
We wish all our student volunteers the very best in their future endeavors and look forward to seeing the incredible contributions they will make to the field of biomedical engineering and beyond.
